Flying cow — this is the name given to the Mi-26 among pilots, for its
impressive dimensions-33.75 m length, 6.5 m width and 7.0 m height (dimensions with removed blades).
These machines are designed for the sky, which is why it was so difficult to
develop the optimal logistics chain for their delivery. Existing
infrastructure restrictions do not allow transportation by land. Transportation by air is too expensive, so the choice fell on river transport.
Preparation for transportation began in March 2022, and it was completed in the period July-August 2022.

1) Krasnoyarsk – Dudinka (river-river class vessel);
2) Reloading to a sea-class vessel, for passing the Northern Sea route; Dudinka-Sabbeta (sea class vessel);
3) Reloading to a river-sea vessel, for further delivery by inland waterways;
4) Sabbeta – Tobolsk (river-sea class vessel);
5) Reloading to a ship with minimum draft (60 cm), for passing shallow -water Tours;
6) Tobolsk-Tyumen (river-river vessel);
7) Arrangement of a floating berth in Tyumen;
8) Air transportation from a floating berth to a repair plant.

Four 4 types of river vessels were involved in the transportation, and the entire route took 41 days.
One of the main features of the project was the timing of navigation in
different basins. For example, when navigation in the Gulf of OBb is just
opening, there are 2−3 weeks left before the Tura navigation closes, and this is at aremains at good water level.
Our specialists promptly performed all loading and unloading
operations at transit points, which allowed us to deliver the cargo to
the planned destination on time.
The final stage was carried out by professionals from UTair-Helicopter Services JSC. It was very spectacular and covered by local journalists.
